Banjo Strap Attachments
Banjo straps are made in THREE pieces. There are two straps that attach to your banjo brackets (bracket straps) and one strap that goes over your shoulder (main body strap) that attaches to the bracket straps. Each type of strap has various ATTACHMENTS you can choose from. As you are building your strap on the Order page, you’ll need to select your preferences. Detailed descriptions are provided below. The banjo strap pictured features BLOOD KNOTS for the main-body-strap attachments and SEWN attachments for the bracket strap attachments.
Main Body Strap Attachments: Blood Knot (Option 1)
Bracket Strap Attachments: Sewn (Option 3)
Bracket Strap Attachments (4)
The bracket strap attachment is the way the strap connects or “attaches” to your banjo’s brackets. We offer four different bracket attachments; the Button-Post and Turks Head with Water Loop attachments are both removable.
OPTION 1: Button-Post – Hunt-N-Pik is the original creator of the Button-Post attachment. This attachment is secure, yet allows you to easily detach the strap from your banjo. It should be noted that this attachment was specifically designed to ensure no metal ever touches that banjo itself. The Button-Post attachment also features a leather keeper for extra security.
OPTION 2: Turks Head with Water Loop – Like the Button-Post attachment, the Turks Head with Water Loop attachment also allows for an easily removed strap. This attachment was inspired by the western horse world. In the horse world, the water loop is a way to attach a horse’s bridle rein to the bit so that you can easily swap out bridle reins.
OPTION 3: Sewn – This bracket attachment is very secure, however doesn’t have the convenience of the removable attachments. This attachment requires the removal of the bracket to both remove the strap and put it on. This option is best for the musician who rarely expects to be removing his/her strap.
OPTION 4: Blood Knot – This is a popular bracket attachment choice and is often paired with the Blood Knot main-body-strap attachment. Removing your strap will require taking the blood knot apart and retying it when the strap is re-attached. While self-explanatory, please see our YouTube video for easy instructions. If removing your strap is a frequent occurrence, we would suggest either the “Button Post” or “Turks Head with Water Loop” bracket attachment instead.
Main-Body-Strap Attachments (3)
The main-body-strap is the wider strap that sits across your shouder. This strap attaches to the two bracket attachment straps. Choosing a main-body-strap attachment is entirely about the aesthetic you’re looking for. The main strap attachment will be more visible than the bracket strap attachment as it sits up higher on the chest and back. We offer three different types of main body strap attachments.
OPTION 1: Blood Knot – This attachment is a single blood knot sitting on top of two leather rosettes. You’ll probably see this attachment show-cased the most on our site as it is, to date, the most popular. Its eye-catching design won’t be missed at a jam session.
OPTION 2: Double Blood Knot – The Double Blood Knot main attachment has all the appeal of the Single Blood Knot main attachment, but just adds a little extra eye-candy. The double blood knot also sits on top of two leather rosettes.
OPTION 3: Concho – The Concho main strap attachment can be done with either a screw-back or slotted concho. In either case, the concho will sit on top of a leather rosette. Conchos always give a wonderfully finished look to a strap and is one of our more popular options. Below are some examples of conchos you can choose from.
